Home/Drones & Unmanned Systems

The unmanned economy, evaluated properly.

Unmanned systems are moving from novelty to infrastructure — in defense, logistics, inspection, agriculture, and urban air mobility. SOLOMON PARTNERS invests in, raises capital for, and independently evaluates the platforms, autonomy stacks, and counter-UAS systems that will define the sector.

The sector as we see it

The drone industry rewards two things the pitch deck rarely shows: airworthiness discipline and unit economics at fleet scale. Flight demonstrations are cheap; certified, producible, maintainable systems operating inside real regulatory regimes are not. Our work separates the two.

Demand is being pulled simultaneously by defense modernization, commercial logistics, infrastructure inspection, and emerging urban air mobility. Korea sits at the center of several of these currents, and we work across them cross-border.

What we evaluate

Airframe and propulsion engineering, autonomy and GNC software, sensor and payload integration, datalink and anti-jamming resilience, swarming architectures, counter-UAS effectiveness, certification pathways (military airworthiness and civil type certification), and manufacturing readiness from prototype to rate production.

How we invest

Through Principal Investments we take positions across the capital structure — venture and growth equity, special situations, and co-investment alongside institutional partners — always underwritten by our own technical work rather than borrowed conviction.

How we advise

Through our Technology Advisory practice we deliver independent assessments, technical due diligence, and written expert opinions in this sector for investors, boards, lenders, corporates, and government programs. Through Capital Formation we prepare and run fundraising processes for companies whose technology withstands our own scrutiny.

Where we focus.

  • Tactical and ISR unmanned aircraft systems
  • Logistics, delivery, and inspection drones
  • eVTOL and urban / advanced air mobility
  • Autonomy, GNC, and mission software stacks
  • Counter-UAS detection and defeat systems
  • Maritime and ground unmanned systems
  • Components: propulsion, datalinks, payloads, batteries
